Puerto Rico: A U.S. Colony in the 21st Century

The Free Library of Philadelphia and Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora presents Alberto Medina and Luis Ponce in conversation with Free Library’s Social Science and History Department head Alberto Pagan-Ramirez in a 2-day series talking about the current status of colonialism  in Puerto Rico.

The current “commonwealth” (or territorial) status of Puerto Rico is actually colonial in nature, argues BUDPR. In this discussion, BUDPR leaders will expose how the colonial intervention of the U.S. has become dramatically evident in the last 10 years, and what tools the public can use to move the U.S. to eradicate its colonial policies towards Puerto Rico.
