worlds best hispanic boxers

All across the world there are Hispanic fighters that are making a big name for themselves. Boxing is an honored sport in many Hispanic countries like Mexico and Puerto Rico, and these countries’ reputation for creating some of the best fighters on the planet grows every year. With Mixed Martial Arts gaining momentum as a sport, we have even more opportunity to see what these fighters are capable of. Here are five of the best Hispanic fighters in the world right now; watch out for them in their upcoming events.

Dominick Reyes

The Mexican-American Dominick Reyes is one of the best MMA fighters in the world at the moment. While quietly climbing the ranks in the UFC Light Heavyweight division, Reyes scored knockout after knockout. On his resumé, he has wins over several seasoned professionals like Chris Weidman, Volkan Oezdemir, and Ovince Saint Preux. This past February, Reyes received his first title shot against the longtime champion, Jon Jones.

When reviewing the UFC 247 predictions, odds and picks at sites like Oddschecker, we can see that at one point Dominick Reyes was a +375 underdog to win in his title fight versus Jon Jones. Going up against the man many people consider to be the best fighter in the world, fans did not have much faith in Reyes. His performance shocked the MMA world and, though he lost, many fans rightfully believe that he should have been given the decision victory. In all certainty, Reyes will have another shot at the title soon, and we could potentially be looking at the next UFC Light Heavyweight champion.

Amanda Serrano

Puerto Rico has a long and cherished history of bringing forth some of the best boxers in history. Amanda Serrano perfectly embodies this time-honored tradition and is currently one of the best female boxers in the world. At age 31, Serrano has a stunning record of 38 wins with only 1 loss. She has competed in seven different weight classes, becoming world champion in all of them, across five different boxing promotions. Serrano has already carved out her place in history, and is looking to take her career even farther. She has plans to branch out into MMA, and has a looming superfight on the horizon with top female boxer, Katie Taylor.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez

Canelo, as he is commonly known, is by all accounts one of the best boxers alive. Born and raised in Mexico, Canelo has absolutely blazed his path to the top, becoming a three division world champion in the process. His record currently stands at 53 wins, with 36 knockouts and only 1 loss. He is particularly known as being a brutal body puncher, and one of the best counter punchers in the world.

As he is the most sought after fighter in boxing today, Canelo certainly has enjoyed the lucrative paydays that come with his status. His current net worth is believed to be around $175 million, though that number will go up dramatically in the coming years. The current deal he has with DAZN will pay him $35 million per fight, easily making him the most profitable boxer in the world. With that much expendable income, Canelo can certainly afford to splurge on his envious exotic car collection and lavish vacations.

Anthony Pettis

When it comes to the UFC, Pettis is both a well known and highly respected competitor. The Puerto Rican and Mexican fighter has been competing in the UFC since 2011, and has fought against just about every big name in the stacked Lightweight division. With wins over Cowboy Cerrone, Stephen Thompson and Michael Chiesa, Pettis has proven his worth time after time and has an impressive highlight reel to back it up.

Known for his explosive and acrobatic style, Pettis continues to give the audience highly entertaining fights. With his recent win over the longtime UFC competitor Cerrone, he quickly put himself back into the conversation for bigger fights in the Lightweight division. At only 33 years old, Pettis still has a great career ahead of him.

Joseph Adorno

Joseph Adorno is one of the best up and coming boxing prospects. The Puerto Rican fighter is only 21 years old, but has already racked up 14 wins with only 1 loss. Known as “Blessed Hands,” 12 of his wins thus far have come by an exciting knockout finish, and all of this has happened in only 4 years as a professional fighter.  Everyone that watches one of his fights leaves with the impression that Adorno will soon be a massive star in the boxing world, and he is absolutely worth keeping an eye on.
